Less than a week after releasing the season's 2020-2021 football schedule, the Big Ten decided it will be cancelling the season, according to the Detroit Free Press.
The cancellation comes just one day after an emergency conference among commissioners of the Power Five conferences.
The Free Press reported there was a 12-2 vote in favor of cancelling the 2020-2021 football season. Nebraska and Iowa were the two lone schools in favor of playing.
Several Fighting Illini football players have expressed their thoughts and feelings in regards to the cancellation rumors via social media.
Sophomore Casey Washington, senior Josh Imatorbhebhe, senior Jake Hansen, and sophomore Luke Ford are a few to express their thoughts to Twitter.
The Big Ten is expected to make an announcement Tuesday.
