Former Illini wing Alan Griffin announced on Instagram (@alangriffin0) he will be transferring to Syracuse University.
Griffin will be returning to his home state of New York to play for Jim Boeheim and the Syracuse Orange. Griffin will be entering his Junior season.
The New York native may, however, have to sit out the 2020-2021 season. “The Division I council is expected to vote sometime this month on a change to the transfer rules that could eliminate sit-out transfers because the season ended prematurely due to the coronavirus pandemic,” ESPN.com reports. This change would allow Griffin to be eligible immediately.
Griffin averaged 8.9 points and 4.5 rebounds for the Fighting Illini during his Sophomore season.
