Ayo Dosunmu posted a video to Twitter (@ayodos_11) Friday night announcing his return to the Illinois Fighting Illini. The sophomore guard had declared for the 2020 NBA draft back in April. “Since a kid, I’ve been working. My dream is to play in the NBA. But first, I need that national championship. Year 3,” Dosunmu says in the video. The Illini guard averaged 16.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per contest during his sophomore campaign. Dosunmu also delivered in the clutch multiple times for Illinois during his sophomore season, most notably a floater over Michigan’s Xavier Simpson to give the Illini a 64-62 lead with .05 seconds remaining in the game. The Illini star will be joining incoming four-star guards Adam Miller and Andre Curbelo in 2020, making for a deep backcourt. Dosunmu’s teammate Kofi Cockburn, who also declared for the 2020 NBA draft in April, has until Aug. 3 to withdraw his name from the 2020 NBA draft.
