Illinois' star player Ayo Dosunmu has spoken to the media for the first time since the cancellation of the Big-Ten and NCAA tournaments.
There has been much speculation among Illini fans in regards to whether Dosunmu will declare for the NBA draft or return to Champaign for a final season.
NBC Sports' Rob Dauster currently projects Dosunmu to be picked 34th in their 2nd NBA mock draft. Considering the current restrictions caused by COVID-19, Dosunmu may not get the opportunity to increase his draft stock between now and draft day.
Dousnmu did not address any of that.
In a segment done by Big Ten Network called "In Their Words," Dosunmu reflected on the 2019-2020 season. "All of our Seniors going out and winning their last game. Kofi (Cockburn) winning Freshman of the Year", Dosunmu highlights the positive aspects of what had been a not-so positive March.
Dosunmu also voiced his concerns for the current Corona-virus pandemic. "It's bigger than me. Its bigger than basketball. Its bigger than March Madness," the Sophomore guard addresses the severity of the virus.
Ayo Dosunmu ensures the public that he and his family are taking the precautionary actions of social distancing and encourages the rest of the country to do so.
His NBA status remains unknown.
