Big changes were announced regarding the 2020-2021 football season.
The Big-Ten announced all fall athletic programs will go with a conference-only schedule this season.
This means the Illinois Fighting Illini football team will only play nine regular season games, opposed to the twelve games they were originally scheduled to play.
The first three home games against Illinois State (9/4), Connecticut (9/12), and Bowling Green (9/19) have been canceled.
According to the team’s site, they are scheduled to open the season in Piscataway against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Oct. 3.
For now, this is the new schedule the Illini will play this upcoming season:
at Rutgers (Oct. 3)
at Nebraska (Oct. 10)
vs. Purdue (Oct. 17)
vs. Minnesota (Oct. 24)
at Wisconsin (Oct. 31)
vs. Iowa (Nov. 7)
at Indiana (Nov. 14)
vs. Ohio State (Nov. 21)
at Northwestern (Nov. 28)
The Big-Ten announced it will continue to make adjustments to accommodate the recent schedule changes.
